Harry Edward Carlson

Harry Edward Carlson left us to embark upon his next great adventure on Summer Solstice June 21, 2022. Harry was 73 years old. Harry was born April 20, 1949 to Harry and Elaine Carlson at the old Saint Joseph hospital. Harry would lose his father to a plane accident in 1952. In 1953, Harry's mother would marry Glen Skidmore. Harry proudly called him Dad.
Harry would grow up in Eureka attending Lafayette Elementary, Eureka Junior High School and finally Eureka Senior High graduating in 1967. After graduation Harry would take a job on his Aunt and Uncle's apple orchard outside of Vancouver, British Columbia. Harry would remain on the farm for the next year and a half before finally returning home to Humboldt County. Harry would meet the mother of his three children Maria Knight. Through his wife he would meet her grandfather Gordon Mellon who would introduce Knight. Through his wife, he would meet her grandfather, Gordon Mellon who would introduce Harry to the craft of woodworking. Thus Harry would begin his journey and career of becoming one of the best artisans of his craft." "If it is not perfect ,it's no good!" That would become Harry's business motto. Also, when dealing with his clients last minute changes, Harry would often exclaim "we don't do frantic." Harry was a very genuine character. Harry loved not only working for himself, but creating. So perfect was Harry's work, that it got published more than a few times in both architectural digest and find homebuilding.
In his free time, Harry was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. Fishing, camping kayaking, photography, water and snow skiing. But what Harry liked to do most was ride. Harry loved his motorcycles, he participated in many Enduro competitions. Bringing home few trophies for his excellence in the field. He enjoyed spontaneous "tour" on the weekends with his riding crew LIFE'S AN ADVENTURE became his mantra.
Later in life, one would not be surprised to see Harry spending as much time as possible reading a good book on local Humboldt County history. Most likely finding him reading that book in a camping chair net to some "secret" swimming hole at the end of somewhere. Harry will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to have met him.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Elaine Skidmore, his nephews Willy Carlson, Beau Stansberry, and his niece Cassie Carlson. Harry is survived by his children Scott, Justin and Shannon Carlson, Mark Masshoff, and his granddaughter Nakaya Masshoff. Harry also leaves behind his brother William "Wild Bill" Carlson (Kathy) sisters Edwinna "Ivory" Lyons, Joyce Moon, Valerie Nessen and Glenda Crnich (Jerry)/ Harry also loved his nieces and nephews and many cousins. His special cousins Carol, "cousin Pete" Lee Ronalda "Ronnie Ann" Carlson and Holly Doris. His special friends Captain Jack and partner Nancy and Jim and Linda Roberts.
Harry will be laid to rest at the Iaqua/Kneeland Cemetery. A celebration of life is planned for July 15, 2023 at 1pm at Sequoia Park, Eureka, CA.
