Jack and I have been friends for almost 70 years, and he was on top of everything in world. He fought the good fight, ,and I always respected him. May his soul rest in peace.

Jack. It's been so many years since my Ferndale days, but I still try to describe them to those who will listen. You were a big part of that magical time. You and I would go birding down at the mouth of the Eel, and you never did believe me when I told you I saw three pink flamingoes hanging out there. But, there were! You were an awesome birdwatcher, a "feather counter", far beyond my skills. Always loved your acerbic humor, and your amazing talents as a true artist. Thought of you many times over the years. Rest in peace, dear friend.

Rest in Peace Jack Mays. My husband and I had the privilege of meeting and talking to Jack for two summertimes. That was enough to know what a wonderful human being he was.
