Janice Middleton-Riness Obituary

Janice went to be with the Lord on January 29, 2012 due to a recent illness. Janice was born on June 15, 1949 to Wilmer and Mattie Middleton of Fortuna, Ca. She leaves behind her loving husband of 32 years, Timothy Riness, along with her cherished dog Rascal, and numerous friends and family. Janice was born in Scotia and raised in Rohnerville. She attended Toddy Thomas Elementary School and went on to graduate from Fortuna High School in 1968. She pursued her interest in cosmetology and successfully finished schooling at the Frederick and Charles Beauty School in Eureka a short time later. Janice's talent and ability landed her numerous jobs in the cosmetology business, with her most prestigious career move at Super Cuts in Santa Barbara. In the 90s, she and her husband, Tim, decided it was time for a career move and began managing motels. It was there, they discovered their calling and successfully managed numerous motel chains throughout western and central U.S., including California, Arizona, Texas, and Nevada. Janice loved hummingbirds and had an extensive collection. Janice also enjoyed quilting, a trait that was passed down by her mother Mattie. She took pride in spreading her love through the gift of quilt, which she often did for her close friends and family. Janice had a quick wit, great sense of humor, and was never afraid to speak her mind. She had a gentle touch which left a permanent mark of countless people's lives. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Mattie and Wilmer Middleton and brothers Doyle and Delmar Middleton. She leaves behind her husband Timothy Riness, sister Laverne (Middleton) Carter and her husband Chester of Oregon, brothers James Middleton and his wife Guila, of Oregon, Elmer Middleton and his wife Sue of Ruth, Ca., and Ronald Middleton and his wife Karen of Willow Creek, Ca. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services are to be held at 1pm on Thursday, February 2, at the Catholic Cemetary on Rohnerville Road in Fortuna. Friends and family are encouraged to attend. Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com click on obits.

To my Auntie Jan-
O Where do I begin??? Theres so many things I am going to miss about you! But most of all it will be your ability to speak your mind, no matter who it would offend! LOL. You could always get a laugh out of me by saying it like it was, even if it was about me, and getting away with it! You had the most gentle touch. I used to love it when I was a little girl and you would play with my hair and rub my back. I can still remember it like it was yesterday! You wereand always will be my most special auntie...we had such a close bond, I was even named after you! I hold you so close to my heart and will love you forever! I miss you already...
Love, Shelly Annette Middleton (Baldy)
