Dear Tommy, John, Chuck and Julia.
I send you my deepest sympathy. I remember Dr. Slater and your family so fondly. I enjoyed staying with you when Tommy was in the hospital after surgery. It must have been 1969. Dr. Slater was so kind and patient even during our meatloaf incident! We had lots of good times and laughs. I wish you all peace and comfort at this sad time.
Love, Katie Buxton Benouar

Tommie,
Dane and I are so sorry to hear about the loss of John. We did not know him as a doctor but as a wonderful neighbor. Seeing him out on his walks was always something we could count on each and every day. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of your family.

Dear Tommie, My thoughts are with you and your family. Dr. Slater delivered all three of my children. I was probably one of his first patients when he took over the practice in Eureka. He was a wonderful person and doctor and will be missed. We have many fond memories of the Redwood Swim Club and all of the many friends we made there. Dixie Klemp

Dear Thomasine (Tommie) and family, I read with sadness the passing of Dr. Slater. He was our wonderful family doctor all the time my children were growing up and later on until he retired.
Thinking of you with love.
Ruth Henkle (Your sons would remember me as Ruth Niles as I was a teacher at Zane when they were in junior high. I never had Julie.

Dr. Slater's name is on our firstborn daughter's birth certificate. She is a mother to 4 of my grandchildren and a supervising BSN nurse at a hospital in Cor d'Alene, Idaho. Interesting while such a common procedure as delivery of a newborn would affect so many lives in positive ways. I knew him only a brief time, but he was such a caring person.
