Jolene Lynn Johnson, daughter of John and Marlene McGrath, passed away from an enlarged heart that she was born with January 9th, 2006.
Jolene was born November 20, 1959, in San Luise Obispo, CA. Jolene attended elementary school in Concord and San Rafael. They moved to Humboldt County and she attended junior high and high school at South Fork in Miranda. Shortly after graduation Jolene moved to Alaska. Jolene loved Alaska and had many friends, she also met and married Glenn Johnson; they then had two children: Jeannie Mae and Brian Glen.
In 1987 the Johnson family moved back to the Garberville area. Jolene was known for her beautiful smile, kind heart and talented craftsmanship. If you knew someone that could make anything when having nothing you knew my mom. She loved camping trips to Ruth Lake and Shelter Cove with the family and fishing right off the shore. She was a wonderful gardener, from flowers to food and she loved to can all sorts of things. We will greatly miss her applesauce, jelly and grape juice. Jolene was also a magnificent mother, "grandma-yo" to her three grandchildren and friend to anyone who came around her. Her love for us children was awesome always there to play a game of Acee Ducee or share knowledge, tricks and solutions for any problem or question. She would always jump on any chance to play with her grandkids. Her loyalty and compassion to help others will be remembered forever by all.
She is survived by her children, Jeannie Mae Gillespie and Brian Glen Johnson; her mother, Marlene McGrath; her father, John McGrath; stepmother, Yvonne McGrath; her grandmother, Ruth Nichols; three granddaughters, Kaylene, Mallory and Molly Gillespie; her uncle, Floyd Nichols; her aunt, Joann and uncle, Louie Adams.
A gathering for Jolene will be held at a later date to celebrate her life.
