Mary Bareilles Obituary

Mary Margaret Biasca Bareilles Mary was born January 3, 1917 in Ferndale, California. She passed away December 23, 2014 in Roseville, California at the age of 97. Mary died peacefully surrounded by her family. She was the fifth of eight daughters born to Henry and Anna Biasca. Mary attended Coffee Creek Elementary School, Ferndale High School, and Humboldt State University. Mary also studied nursing in the San Francisco area. Upon returning to Humboldt County, she met the love of her life Melvin Jack Bareilles. They became acquainted while attending services at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Scotia, where they both remained active and involved members throughout the duration of their lives. Mary and Melvin were married in January 1939 and chose the Rio Dell/Scotia area to live and raise their family. They had five children: Jack, Ken, Paul, Monica and Angela. Mary and Melvin created a home environment filled with love, laughter, encouragement and faith. They remained together for thirty years before the sudden passing of Melvin. With the support of her loving sisters, Mary continued her charitable ways and kept her optimistic attitude. There are so many lives she touched in a positive way. Mary was happy, content, and enjoyed each day to the fullest. The majority of Mary's life was spent in the family home in Rio Dell. Mary loved living there, spending many hours in her garden and enjoying the scenic beauty of Humboldt County. She also loved visiting her sisters and friends, and was frequently helping others in need. There are so many memories and stories about how Mary made a difference that could bring a smile to your face and exemplified the wonderful person that she was. For the last two years of her life Mary lived with her daughter and son-in-law Monica and David Noble in Roseville, CA. Mary is survived by her children: daughter-in-law Inger Bareilles of Danville, CA, sons Ken Bareilles and wife Linda, Paul Bareilles and wife Betsy both of Eureka, daughters Monica Noble and husband David, Angela Lakey and husband David both of Roseville. She is also survived by two of her sisters: Evelyn Brom and husband Eldon of Sonora, CA. and Hilda Piersall of Fort Jones, CA. Mary has many grandchildren: Jeff Bareilles, Monika Corey and husband Richard, Adrianne Bareilles, Jack Bareilles and wife Carolyn, Ken Bareilles and wife Renee, Jess Bareilles and wife Denise, Sandy Younger and husband Eric; Christy, Paul, and Heidi Bareilles, Stacey Proffit and husband Dan, Jenny, Sara, and Melody Bareilles, Vanessa Anderson and husband Sean, Ally Simmons and husband Rob, Jason Lakey and wife Jenny, Brett and Joshua Lakey. Mary also has many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her husband Melvin Bareilles, her son Jack Bareilles, parents Henry and Anna Biasca, her sisters Elma, Irma, Ruby, Lydia and Anne as well as brothers-in-law Robert Burns, Bruce McLeod, Arthur Blomquist, and Shirley Gundlach, and Jack Piersall preceded her in death. The Bareilles family would like to extend thanks to the communities of Rio Dell and Scotia for all the love and support given to Mary throughout her 97 years of life. They would also like to thank the many caregivers who assisted Mary in her later years. A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Mary's life was held in Roseville, CA. Arrangements are pending for another celebration to be held locally. The family requests that donations be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Scotia, or to a favorite charity. Mary Bareilles was loved by many and will be dearly missed. Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com and click on obits.

Mary Bareilles was such a kindhearted woman. She took some of our family in after the flood of 1964, she and Mel were also my brothers godparents. I loved her very much. I extend my heartfelt symnpathy to the Bareilles family for the passing of such a gentle caring person Mary. I was one of the teenagers that hung out at the Bareilles residence in Rio Dell. Many a rainy day we watched sports on TV and played chess. The house was full of Mary's all emcompassing love. Mel would come home from his office work; and we would report to him the game scores and results. He would respond, "Thats just great." Faith in God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost absolutely prevailed in the Bareilles residence. I always felt accepted by Mary and Mel. They are in heaven now together with Jack. Love always Roger and Edward Barisdale.
