Hello from Minnesota to Darcy and family. I am so grateful I had some time to get to know Ray. I distinctly remember the last time I hung out with him- he waved me over to come out and hang out in his garage and we just sat and talked. He made me feel so welcome. Mostly I remember how he just seemed so happy; he beamed as he talked about his family and his grandchildren. Sending Love, I hope this message finds you all well.

There are no words to express the loss of Raymond on you and your family or our sorrow. Our two sons have so many wonderful "Uncle Ray" stories, from riding on ATV's to fishing in the ocean that we will forever review. Ray was always ready for an adventure and he always welcomed us and our sons. He was always so strong about family and that is so apprent in your girls and grandkids. Dear Darcy and family: We will always remember Ray as someone who simply radiated cheerful energy. Whenever he was around, good things were bound to happen. He was such fun at family reunions. A man of his energy and devotion to doing good, whether for family, friends, or the whole community, leaves a very, very big void behind. The shadow of his influence is both long and wide, and will continue to affect many people for good down the long years ahead. You'll all be in our prayers and thoughts now and in the days ahead.

It was first grade, St. Mary's Elementary School, where Ray started honing his catholic school survival skills: he charmed the nuns with his easy smile and his fancy bolo tie. It's his smile we'll remember and his affable way of drawing us into the party or the game or the adventure. My love to his family. We're here for whatever you need, even weeding, Darcy. I know it doesn't help to say but I am so sorry. We recently found pictures from a trip up to Ruth Lake almost 20 years ago with all of you along with the Fords, Meyers and Hasslers. Ray had his normal bright smile and was being goofy with all of the kids. He was always smiling. Together you have raised 2 wonderful daughters and now Peyton and Jules that have tons of memories of what it means to have had an awesome dad and Grandpa. Hopefully those great memories will help in the rough times. You are all in our thoughts. Love, Gary and Tish Osborne

Darcy, Maren, Melissa, and Nate,
I was so sorry to hear about this horrible tragedy. Ray was a wonderful man, father, coach, friend, supporter; everything that you could ever ask for. I have so many fond memories of him coaching soccer, cheering our teams in basketball, giving me rides to practice, and the list goes on and on. He was a wonderful part of the community and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. I know that nothing can diminish your pain, but take heart in the fact that he truly touched the lives of many and genuinely made a difference in the world. The best evidence of this is in the loving family that he created and nurtured and in Maren and Melissa, the wonderful girls that he raised. I hope that you can reach out to the community in your time of need and know that those of us whose lives were touched by Ray are deeply saddened by his death.
Love to you all,

Dear Darcy and Family,
When Bailey and I learned of your loss, our hearts became quite heavy. Over the last two months (since moving in next door) I enjoyed the privilege of swinging by Ray's garage and chatting with him once in a while. He always made me feel so welcome to invite myself into his space. Ray had this certain indescribable presence; it seemed clear that his life must be full of wonderful people.
It was probably one week ago today that I last talked with Ray, he was out in his garage so I swung by to say "hello." Before I knew it I was sitting on the tailgate of his pickup truck feeling like I'd known this fellow for years! We discussed everything from ice fishing in Minnesota to the different varieties of artichoke plants. He had a kind of charming charisma that was completely and uniquely his own. That afternoon when we had finished talking he sent me back home with a HUGE filet of salmon!
What a guy, so friendly and considerate. The gentle confidence with which he seemed to carry himself had quite an impact on me. I feel very fortunate to have known your Ray, if only for a brief time, and I hope to carry the kindness I learned from him with me till the end of my days.
Most Sincerely,
Benjamin Dale
