Richard Goodrich Obituary

Richard Goodrich passed away on January 24, 2012 at the age of 73 in Eureka. He is survived by his brother Robert and his wife Sandie, and his nephew Lance and his wife Mimi. He will be missed by longtime friend and assistant Raedelle Miller. Richard was born in McCloud CA and came to live in Fieldbrook with his family in time to finish his junior and senior year at Arcata High School. He then joined the Air Force and spent time in Japan and North Dakota as a weather observer. Richard was on the Board of Directors of Redwood Community Action Agency for many years and found pleasure in serving his community. Richard's one love was cars in general and his Porsche in particular, which he had to give up years ago because a stroke left his unable to drive a stick shift. He did miss that car! The family wishes to thank Patricia Fitzgerald of the VA, and Especially You Assisted Living for Richard's care the last couple of years - most particularly Amanda, Edna and Morinta. Richard will be buried in Greenwood Cemetery close to his parents, Verna and Virgil. There will be no memorial. Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com, click on obits.

I've known Dick since the opening of the Safeway Store in McK in 1965. We've stayed in contact since departing from my short grocery career in 1968. What a great sense of humor he had I will never forget.

The Talking Heads, J. Giles, Cheap Trick. Just some of the great music you turned me on to as a kid, WAYYY before any of them made it big. You took interest in my listening, and led me down new paths. You will always be an important part of my development. I will miss you and celebrate your life.
