William Dedrick Obituary

WILLIAM "BILL" CHARLES DEDRICK 78, passed away at his home in Grants Pass while surrounded by his loved ones on September 30, 2015. Bill was born Dec.28, 1936 in Minnesota. When he was 10 his family moved to Eureka, Ca. He spent the next 58 years in that area until he moved to Grants Pass in 2004. Bill retired from Brinks in 1996 after 27 years. Before that he worked for Yellow Cab. He had fun racing stock cars at Redwood Acres and won many trophies. His car was "The Lapper". Mostly, though he loved sharing the good news of our salvation bought and paid for by Jesus Christ. Having known the fullness of God's grace and forgiveness himself, he wanted nothing more than to share God's saving grace with others. His faith and love have been inspiring to many. We'll miss his smile, his voice, his music, his fun sense of humor, his Godly wisdom and most of all his love. We'll love and miss him forever. Bill is survived by: his beloved wife and best friend of 35 years Margaret "Marty" (Manzella) Dedrick: six of his seven children: Cindy, Thomas, Deseri, Pamela, David, Jason (Wesley his oldest son who went to heaven before him); sixteen grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; sisters: Barbara and Nancy; and brother Robert. A heartfelt thank you to his caregivers and hospice. Bill was preceded in death by: his son Wesley, and brother Al. Please sign the guestbook at www.times-standard.com under obituaries.

It has berm so many years since I seen him and Marty last. We were like family, but lost tough. We played music together, worshiped the Lord together. He always had a smile, encouraging word, and helpful. Sorry to read of his passing even years later.

Wow, sad to learn of Bills passing. I decided today I needed to find him some how and thank him for all he did for me during my teen years. My dad and mom were friends with Bill during yellow cab days. My father, Toby was killed in a car accident. Bill was driving the ambulance that went to get him. Ultimately he married Bee ( my moms sister) my mom never remarried while I was home. When I was 13 Bill started showing me how to work on cars, woodworking and more, about God and what a man should be like. Bill was more than an uncle to me, he was my crazy buddy who always did something to freak me out. We had great times while he raced, working on his car many many hours. He did indeed win a lot. A gifted mucisian incredible woodworker. I moved away and lost touch. We met a couple time Marty, I was in the AirForce at that time and then looked him up in willow creek after returning to Eureka. I just wanted him to know what a great example he was in my life and how much I appreciate what he did for me. I wish I could have told him so, but I'm sure where he is, he knows I love him like a daddy. Sorry for your loss Marty he was a special man.

I was so very sorry to read of Bill's passing. I first met Bill when he worked for Yellow Cab and bowled for the Yellow Cab team at Eureka Bowl (I was their scorekeeper). Later I would run into him when he worked for Brink's as well. He was great guy with a wonderful personality, sense of humor and smile. I have thought of him often through the years, wondering where he was and what happened to you both. I know Bill left you with a lot of wonderful memories to cherish, especially during this very difficult time. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Bill was a dear friend. R.I.P.
