Brenda E. Bashaw

BARRE - Brenda Evelyn Bashaw, 71, of South Barre Road, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Rowan Court Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born July 29, 1942, she was the daughter of Kenneth G. and Evelyn (Stewart) Adams. She attended local schools and later became a nurse's aide.

On Aug. 8, 1965, she married Arnold G. "Art" Bashaw Sr. at the Old Brick Church in East Montpelier. The couple lived the first 14 years of marriage in Montpelier and in South Barre since then.

Her health care career spanned 43 years, during which time she worked at Heaton House, McFarland House and most recently for Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice.

Brenda was a longtime member of the Berlin Congregational Church.

Crocheting, playing cards, baking doughnuts and homemade fudge, singing, dancing and time spent with family and friends were very special times for her.

Besides her husband of 48 years, Art, she is survived by two sons, Gregg Bashaw, of South Barre, and Eric Bashaw, and his wife, Brandy, of Brookfield, along with a daughter, Kellie Graff, of California. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; her sister, Sandy Clark, of Barre; and a brother, Alan Adams, of Montpelier.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Vaughn Adams, and a brother-in-law, Frank Clark Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the First Congregational Church of Berlin, with burial to take place in the Berlin Corners Cemetery, with Douglas Clark, Michael Clark, David Bryans, Dale Arlith, Andy Adams and Tim Booth as honorary bearers.
