Gerard A. Jarvis

PLAINFIELD — Gerard A. Jarvis Jr., 42, of Northwood Drive, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016, with his family and friends at his bedside, at the University of Vermont Medical Center Hospital in Burlington, due to injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident.

Born in Berlin, Vermont, on January 18, 1974, he was the son of Gerard Jarvis Sr. and Roxanne (Cerasoli) Jarvis. Gerard attended Barre City schools and was a graduate of Spaulding High School, Class of 1992. He continued his education at Castleton State College, Class of 1994, where he received his associate’s degree. After college, he went to Driver Training School at Pro-Line of Nashville, Tennessee. Gerard was a truck driver for Bellavance Trucking in Barre. He later was employed at Capital City Press as a proofreader until promoted to supervisor. He was currently employed at Formula Ford as the body shop manager. This job brought him a great deal of pride for over 13 years, and he so enjoyed the relationships he built with members of the team and the customers. Gerard was previously married to Tonya Byrd.

He loved hunting and fishing (he always said, “I am the best”). He also enjoyed snowmobiling, riding motorcycles and four-wheelers, mountain biking, hiking, going to Maine, and was a Red Sox fan. He enjoyed spending precious time with his family and friends, which included lots of laughter and stories of his many adventures. He will be sadly missed by all. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church of Barre and the Barre Town Thunder Chickens snowmobile club.

Survivors include his parents, Gerard Sr. and Roxanne (Cerasoli) Jarvis, of Barre; one son, Hunter Jarvis, of West Topsham; one stepdaughter, Mercedes Byrd, and children Audrey and Bentley, all of Barre; his grandparents, Joseph and MaryAnne Cerasoli, of East Montpelier; one sister, Sarah Harris and husband Dwayne, and their children, Carli and Kyle, of Barre. Also surviving is his companion, Lorie Whittemore, and children Denver and Maddy, of Barre; his aunt and uncle (and godparents) James and Sheila LaPerle, of East Montpelier; their daughter, Tina LaPerle and her son (his godson), Garrett Badeau, both of San Francisco, California; his aunt and uncle, James and Charmaine Dalton, of Florida, their daughters Carmen and Beth, and their families; as well as numerous lifelong friends.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Barbara Cerasoli; paternal grandparents Armand and Lillian Jarvis; and one uncle, Arthur Jarvis. Family and friends may call at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre on Friday, May 20, 2016, from 7 to 9 p.m. Extra parking is available in St. Monica parking lot. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 10 a.m. in Plain-Mont Cemetery in East Montpelier, Vermont.
