Reginald Orr Obituary

WAITSFIELD - Reginald R. "Reggie" Orr, 70, of Waitsfield, Vermont, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday afternoon, Sept. 22, 2017.
Born in Barre, Vermont, on Jan. 29, 1947, he was the son of the late Stanley R. Orr and Eleanor (Wells) Orr.
Reggie was a very well-known and loved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to many. Reggie is survived by his wife, Kathi Orr; his mother, Eleanor Orr; his sister, Debbie Orr; his children, Jeremy Orr and his fiancée, Kerry Clark, daughter Heidi Avila and her husband, Omar Avila, son Ramsey Orr and his wife, Lauren Merritt-Orr; his grandchildren, Faith Orr, Ethan Avila, Emily Avila, Elladaye Orr, Molly Orr; nieces and nephews, Zach and Jake Mostov and Kane Rooney, Maggie Rooney-Warrick and Jack Rooney; as well as many cousins. Reggie was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Orr, brother, Brian Orr, and sister, Peggy Orr-Rooney.
Reggie's reputation as a most talented and creative tinsmith metal fabricator was second only to his kind heart and sensitive nature. Reggie's talents and abilities will be sorely missed. If it was broken, rusted, disfigured, old or if it needed to be fabricated, welded, soldered, fitted or designed, Reggie was the man to go to if you wanted the job done right.
There was nothing Reggie wasn't capable of making or fixing. Reggie was the epitome of The Jack-Of-All-Trades. His achievements are noted all over the Mad River Valley. Reggie built items ranging from iron snowmobile bridges, copper bar tops, oven hood and light fixtures to the more complex custom projects such as specialized weather barometer devices that he made for NASA.
Reggie spent many years volunteering his time with the Mad River Ridge Runners maintaining trails and relationships with landowners. He loved skiing, snowmobiling, trips to Alaska, hunting and fishing, traveling with friends to Canada, Maine, and the Grand Canyon, to name a few places. Reggie took great pride in his children's endeavors, especially helping his son, Ramsey, start up Mad River Post and Beam.
Reggie's heart was soft gentle and patient. As a father, spouse, brother and son, he was caring loving and present for all of us. He so beloved his children, his grandchildren and his nieces and nephews. Reggie's immense love for his wife, Kathi, and family will be eternally held dear in our hearts. We love you, Reggie, and we will miss you so very much.
A celebration of Reggie's life will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the family home, 118 Radcliffe Drive in Waitsfield. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mad River Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club, P.O. Box 248, Waitsfield, VT 05673. Assisting the family is the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury. To send online condolences, please visit www.perkinsparker.com or the funeral home Facebook page.

Every year the Legacy Newspaper sends me a reminder of Reggie's passing. I can't believe it's been 5 years. I read his obituary every time they send it to me, and think of the times we spent together working, hunting, fishing and having some fun together. He was a super great guy that I still miss dearly. Good friends like Reggie are hard find. We all sincerely miss you and all the talent you had!

Ramsey and family, So sorry for your loss. What a great guy. He was a true artist with metal. He did so many projects for me over the years. We were married under one of his creations. About three weeks ago at ICS he said are we going to ski this year? I was so impressed that he was getting back into skiing. He will be missed. Out thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this time of mourning. Anastasia and Jimmy Kohl

Dear Orr Family,
Paul and I were shocked to hear of Reggie's passing. My grandmother Inez Orr Gilman was sister to Reggie's father, Stanley. Reggie and I were second cousins. Unfortunately, we only met on a few occasions, but my husband, Paul and I were always struck by what a friendly, easy going guy Reggie was. Paul was in awe of his garage and all his projects. Thinking of you all. May he rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Sheryl (Gilman) and Paul Lamberti
