Barbara Getman

Barbara Getman of Longmont died January 5, 2013 at Longmont United Hospital. She was 75. Barb was born on June 3, 1937 to Paul Billesbach and Cecille Birkby Billesbach, in Gordon, Nebraska. The family moved to Longmont in 1955, where she graduated from Longmont High School. Barb was a proud mother, being active in her children's lives. A Girl Scout leader, she directed her girls through all aspects, including camping trips. She later went to work for Geological Society of America. A non-profit organization in Boulder, she took pride in her work, moving from receptionist to eventually publication sales. In retirement she doted on her children and grandchildren, never getting enough time with them. Her monthly outings with the "lunch bunch" were special, non-predictable affairs. Surviving are her daughters; Vicki (Shawn) Blair of Arvada; Clarinda (Dave) Jobes of Mesa, Arizona; and Kim (Lou) Bergeron of Tempe, Arizona; a son Chris Getman of Mobile, Alabama; a brother, Larry Paul Billesbach of Colorado Springs; five grandchildren Erin (John Lawrence) Brachtenbach; Shawntel Gasser; Morgan (Jim) Bischoff; Paul Gasser; Tyler Blair; and great grandchildren Madison Lawrence and Jayse and Lonna Bischoff. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 11 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel.
