Edgar Nielsen Obituary

Edgar Ralph Nielsen, 82, of Longmont, died May 2, 2012 at Millbrook Homes Assisted Living.

He was born January 18, 1930 in Haxtun, Colorado, the son of Louis Edgar Manuel Nielsen and Vesta Blanche (White) Nielsen. Following his high school graduation he went on to attend and graduate from C.S.U. earning an engineering degree.

On December 22, 1962 he married Margaret Diane Winegarden in Loveland, CO.

Edgar enjoyed hiking and appreciated the years that he and his wife were able to enjoy hiking together. They also liked watching and feeding the birds and squirrels at their home. He was an avid reader of history, the classics and autobiographies. He rode his bike regularly, was known for his sourdough and beer bread baking and also liked western art collectibles.

He is survived by his wife Diane of Longmont, his brother Frederick Nielsen of Tacoma, WA and his sisters Julia Dunning of Sterling, CO and Violet Schocke of Sallisaw, OK as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.

Graveside services and inurnment will be held at a later date.
