Florence Revel

1919 - 2015

Florence Edith Revel passed away on September 28, 2015 at her home. She was 96 years old. Florence was born on June 7, 1919 in Girard, Kansas to Samuel Gilbert and Martha Jane (Hennessy) Kennedy. Florence started singing when she was 5 years old, and continued throughout her life. She attended Chase High School where she won a music scholarship. She continued her music career by singing for two funeral homes in Great Bend, Kansas, and also performed at many state affairs in Kansas as the featured soloist. She also participated in her church as an organist, soloist, and choir director her entire life. On September 2, 1939 she married Willis Monte Revel at the Chase Presbyterian Church. She worked at the Whittier Union School District in Whittier, California. When she and Willis moved to Longmont, Colorado in 1968 she began working for the St. Vrain Valley School District where she retired as a registrar for Longmont High School in 1983. Florence was a member of Westview Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, sewing, cooking; and was a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Willis; two infant sons; her parents; her brothers and their wives Allan (Irene) Kennedy and Chester (Ruth) Kennedy; her sisters and their husbands Gladys (Lloyd) Green, Irma (Virgil) Shaklee, Hilda Kennedy, Martha (Earl) Sharp and Floriene (Reland) Cole. Florence is survived by her daughters Joan (Steve) Odell of Hulbert, Oklahoma and Barbara Cross of Littleton, Colorado; grandchildren Mark Billman (Kelli), Diane Martin, David Cross (Marcie) and Paul Cross; step-grandsons Steven Odell (Carol) and Brian Odell (Teresa); and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation 4:00-6:00 PM on Thursday October 1, 2015 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Funeral service 9:30 AM Friday October 2, 2015 at Westview Presbyterian Church. Burial at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
