Gerald Schlagel

1940 - 2016

Jerry was born to Pete and Helen Schlagel in July of 1940 and grew up on their farm near Boulder, CO. He went to school in Boulder until coming to Longmont High School in 1956, where he was an active student and played basketball. In 1966 he joined his father in the implement business, running a successful company, S&S Equipment with dealerships in Johnstown, Longmont and Fort Lupton. Jerry was a respected businessman in northern Colorado for over 55 years. Although being a respected businessman was important, it paled in comparison to his true passion, helping kids. All of his spare time was dedicated to coaching youth sports and teaching young children to grow up with pride and respect. This continued in his personal life with all of his children and grandchildren. An incredible, loving and respected man. Jerry is survived by his wife Beckey, son Kip and wife Erin of Albuquerque, grandchildren Austin, Hannah and Taylor of Albuquerque, grandson Justin and wife Christina with great grandchildren Aj and Addison, granddaughter Kelly with great granddaughter Emily, granddaughter Maddie, Jamie and husband Jared with grandchildren Peter and Graycen of Colorado, Tracie and husband Nick with grandchildren Gabriela, Maximus and Silas of California, Kyle and Darcy of Colorado, Brandie and husband Jay of Nebraska, brother Larry of Colorado, former wife Sandy of Colorado. He was preceded in death by father Pete, mother Helen and daughter Lynda, all of Longmont.
