James Bliss Obituary

On August 11, 2023, James Vernon Bliss passed away peacefully at age 87, with his nephew Rockie by his side. He died at Rockies house where he also called home. James was born 3rd generation in Greeley where his grandfather homesteaded. He graduated from Greeley High School. He served in the National Guard. He was very proud of his service and spoke often of his marksmanship. He scored the highest in his unit. James loved to travel, fish and generally be outdoors. He always tried to see the good in everyone and never had a bad word to say. He spoke often about the love he had for all of his family. James worked as a mechanic before opening his own mobile home service company. He worked at this for most of his career. James loved going out for dinner at his favorite restaurant, Alice's, where he made great friends with the staff. He loved to tease them along with almost anyone he came in contact with, including his doctors. He is finally able to meet his Lord and Savior. He is part of Jewish and Christian communities. James is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Dora, sister Betty, brother Kenneth, daughter Brenda, great-niece Desiree and long-time companion Iris Wisniewski. He is survived by his children James and Jeannie, grandchildren Renee, Michael, Kindra, Leif, Waylan, and Nolan, nephews Rockie and Dirk, great niece Kristeen, and great nephews Joel, Brandon, Brody. James also considered Iris's family as his own. Services will be held at a later date.
