Teri Leiker Obituary

Teri Lee Leiker was born in Wheat Ridge, Colorado on May 25, 1969 and was killed - died in Boulder, Colorado on March 22, 2021. Teri spent most of her life in Boulder County, Colorado. She loved the Rocky Mountains and the Boulder Flatirons. She enjoyed going to Estes Park to see the Elk and buy caramel corn for her Daddy, attend parades, the stock show, draft horses, hot air balloons, classic car shows, Wildlife Sanctuary, the Colorado Creek Festival. Teri took many trips and cruises with her prior boyfriend David and his family - she loved to travel. Teri's always-present positive spirit and determination to succeed, despite her mild cognitive disabilities, led her to graduate from Longmont High School's Special Education Program. At the age of 21 she began living independently through a program with Imagine!Colorado. On February 23, 1989 she started working at King Soopers on Table Mesa Drive in Boulder - her first and only job where she worked for 31 years until her tragic death at the store while doing her job. She loved her job, her co-workers and her customers. She was known for her smile and friendly personality. Teri was very involved in the Special Olympic events of softball, cross-country skiing, track & field, and bowling all through her school years. Then, as an adult and recently, for over 10 years she was a "Best Buddie" in the Best Buddy program at the University of Colorado. She loved CU and was a very energetic, loyal fan. Every home game the CU Football Team played she attended the "Stampede" where she met and interacted with the CU Marching Band, Chip, the CU Cheerleaders and other CU fans. The family expresses their utmost gratitude to the Boulder and outlying communities for the outpouring of love and support shown in response to the senseless death of their sweet, sweet Teri. King Soopers and its employees have always helped Teri in every way. Now, Kings is much appreciated in the support it has given Teri's family. Special Olympics, Imagine!, Best Buddies and Via Mobility were important in helping her become the successful, vibrant person she was. Teri is survived by her Mom Margie; her Daddy Tom; her much loved Brother Kevin; Sister-in-law RoxAnn; Niece Rachael; and her Boyfriend Clint. Other survivors are half-siblings Susan, Randy, Ronnie, Jodi, Jason and Josh all from other marriages of her biological father whom she only knew as a young child. Aunt Faye, Aunt Mary and Uncle Jimmy and many cousins also survive her. Preceding Teri in death are all of her Grandparents; her first love, Jean LeClare; Aunt Sue; and her First Cousins Tommy and Mark. Teri's Service will be held on April 9, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the University of Colorado (CU) Events Center with a reception to follow. All are invited. Parking is provided on the North side of the building in Lot 440. Private interment will be held at Green Mountain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations to these organizations in her name are suggested. ·https:// www.bestbud dies.org/buddies-forteri/, ·https://specialolympics co.org/give/ ·https://viacolorado. org/give/, ·https://imagine colorado.org/donate or the CU Teri Leiker Memorial Marching Band Scholarship.

Learning more of Teri as a Coloradoan, now from South Carolina. Lived in Boulder County. I enjoyed the Flat Irons, as did Teri. She was an amazing person in beating the odds. She flourished. I so wished I could have known her. She had so much to offer. Praying for the family. Praying you find comfort & peace in our eternal Lord.
Sincerely,
JuDee McDonald

I loved our conversations with Teri when checking out at KS. She was always interested in what animals we were fostering for the Humane Society. I am so sorry, such a sweet soul.
