Phillip Frady Obituary

Mr. Phillip Eddie Frady Sr., 78, of Ellijay, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, at his residence.

He was born May 14, 1947, in Canton, to Robert Fred Frady and Mildred Holloway Frady.

He proudly served as a United States Navy Hospital Corpsman attached to the 1st Marine Division, where he displayed extraordinary courage and dedication in caring for his fellow service members. He received a Purple Heart, a symbol of the sacrifice he made in service to his country.

After his military career, he made a lasting impact as an auto body teacher for 26 years at Morrow Sr. High School. In the classroom, he was more than an instructor - he was a mentor and a role model who deeply cared for his students. Known for his knowledge, patience and compassion, he had a unique ability to connect with young people and guide them not only in their trade but in life. His students loved and respected him, and his legacy lives on in the many lives he touched with his wisdom, kindness and commitment to helping others succeed.

He is preceded in death by brother, Robert Larry "Bobby" Frady, and sister, Kathy Diane Frady.

He is survived by wife of 56 years, Jo Lina Frady of Merced, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip Jr. and Pepper Frady of Douglasville; daughters, Lorie Frady, of Marietta and Lisa Frady, of New Zealand; grandchildren, James Patrick Futch, Peyton Chelsie Futch, Mia Ilonna Kovach and Juliet Tesla Kovach; one great-grandchild expected; special friend, Preston Mills; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 30, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Frier officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant "Buckhorn" Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites by the United States Navy.

Glad I got to talk to him the other week. My heart goes out to all of you. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you and the kids as you navigate through this terrible time in the weeks to come. Just lay your burdens on God and let him handle things.
I am proud to say Phil was my friend, and we kept in touch online. He was always willing to help me and others online and never made me feel stupid for asking questions. I guess that was the teacher in him. He would do anything he could to help anyone. He brought a smile or chuckle to everyone he encountered. Phil will be missed by all that ever met or knew him. We had really good times jointly managing the Fulton website along with Gordon and being on the reunion committee.
Jo, please feel to call me if you need anything or just to talk. We love you.
