Herbert "HV" Hart, 91, of Walnut Ridge, passed away Feb. 6, 2025, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, with his family by his side.
He was born April 30, 1933, in the Richwoods community, to VT Hart and Macey Jones Hart. HV was a proud veteran, having served in the Army during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Mary Frances Pender, on Sept. 6, 1956. They were married for 68 years.
HV loved all aspects of the great outdoors, from boating, fishing, hunting, and camping at the lake with his sweetheart and kids. His favorite pastime was watching his grandkids play ball. He was a "big time" Cardinals fan.
During his life, HV rode motorcycles, was an avid bowler, umpire, a member of the chain gang for the Walnut Ridge Bobcats, raised and trained bird dogs, was an airplane pilot, and a retired John Deere mechanic. He was a Christian and a member of the First Assembly of God in Walnut Ridge.
HV was preceded in death by his parents, VT Hart and Macey Jones Hart; daughter, Bonnie Carleen Hart; brother, Rex Lee Hart; and son-in-law, Hugh Mossburg.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Hart, of the home; daughters, Cynthia Mossburg of Chesnee, S.C., and Kendra (Keith) Warner of Hoxie; and son, Michael (Sherry) Hart of Sedgwick; grandchildren, Leslie (Travis) Johnson of Chesnee, S.C., Clay (Amy) Hart of Jonesboro, and Seth (Lexie) Hart of Sedgwick; great-grandchildren, Hughston and Hayden Johnson of Chesnee, S.C., and Willow Kate Hart of Jonesboro; siblings, Jim Hart of Hoxie, Judy Kazzee of Pocahontas, Peggy Cassidy of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Charlotte McClintock of Loves Park, Ill., Carol Plaster of Bull Shoals, Betty Johnson of Georgetown, Texas, and Junior Hart of Portia; and many other friends and families.
Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 15, from noon until 1 p.m. at First Assembly of God in Walnut Ridge. Funeral services will begin at the Church at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dale Hughart officiating. Interment will be in Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge under direction of House-Gregg Funeral Homes of Walnut Ridge and Lynn.
Those honored to be pallbearers are Clay Hart, Seth Hart, Travis Johnson, Hughston Johnson, Hayden Johnson, Brian Hart and Matt Bullard. Long-time best friend, Dallas Roberts, will serve as honorary pallbearer.
