Vivian Turner, 94, of Lynn, died on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, at White River Medical Center in Batesville. Mrs. Turner
She was born June 14, 1930, in Lynn, to Lowell and Lucy Mae Hardaway Penn, and was a longtime resident of Lawrence County. She influenced many lives during her career as a second-grade teacher at Lynn School District, spanning 35 years.
She was the widow of George Turner and was a devoted member of the Lynn Church of Christ. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher and friend.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Lowell and Lucy Mae Penn; and her husband of 47 years, George Turner.
Left to mourn her death are her daughters, Georgetta (Hershel) Davis, Sherry Barnhill, and Karla (Jody) Dotson; her son, Stephen Turner; her brothers, Lavern, James (Verla) and Terry (Sharon) Penn; and grandchildren, Shannon (Dwayne) Smith, Blake Davis, Brandon Davis, Andrew (Natasha) Turner, Aaron (Courtney) Turner, Blair (Seth) Sherrill, Brock (Olivia) Barnhill, Logan Dotson, Lauren (Tristan) Dotson-Cripps; great-grandchildren, Savannah Stone, Jarrett Stone, Jaxson Turner, Ryley Turner, Adysen Turner, Jedidiah Sherrill, Vivian Sherrill and many family and friends.
Honored to serve as pallbearers were Anthony Harris, Danny Morgan, Logan Dotson, Brock Barnhill, Tristan Cripps and Philip Penn. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Whitmire, Mike Durham, Vance Penn, Brandon Harris and the Lynn Elementary teachers: Carolyn Penn, Joy Rainwater, Willie Mae Jones, Phyllis Woodard, Marida Deeter and Martha Ann Durham.
Visitation was Monday, Dec. 30, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Lynn Church of Christ.
The funeral service was Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m. at the church with Shawn Morgan officiating. Interment was in Old Lebanon Cemetery, with House-Gregg Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mrs. Turner to the Children's Home of Paragould or Arkansas Children's Hospital.
