Alan Keith Winderweedle

WINDERWEEDLE, Alan Keith, After one last family beach trip to the Outer Banks, Alan "Al" Winderweedle entered into eternal rest on October 7, 2021 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his adoring family. Born in Glen Ridge, N.J., Alan followed in the footsteps of his grandfather and started his career in law enforcement with the New Jersey State Police. After moving south, Al graduated from the Ninth Henrico Police Academy and was one of a handful of officers to join the first crash investigation team in the state of Virginia. He proudly served the residents of Henrico County for 27 years, retiring with the rank of Captain. After his retirement from the Division of Police, Al went on to work for the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board before retiring fully in 2020. Alan will be dearly missed by his friends and brothers from his service with the Henrico County Police Department and the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board.

His memory will live on through his loving wife, Donna; devoted daughters, Jessica and Lauren (Josh); two adoring grandchildren, Peyton and Pierce; two sisters, Linda (Eric) and Jane (Keith). He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Anthony and Theresa Gursky; his mother and father, Joan and William Winderweedle. A doting husband, father and "Pop Pop," Alan never missed an opportunity to spoil the ones he loved, always looking for ways to make his grandbabies laugh with his latest Amazon find.

A visitation honoring Alan will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bliley's Funeral Home at 8510 Staples Mill Rd., Richmond, Va. 23228. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund or to the Children's Hospital of Richmond.
