The heavenly father called Hugh Winderweedle home March 29, 2023.
Hugh "Buster" Mclaren Winderweedle Jr, born May 25, 1951, in Shreveport, LA. Hugh was preceded in death by his father Hugh, mother Eleanor and brothers Ernie & Frank.
Hugh died March 29, 2023, in a horrific vehicle (fire) accident on his way to the Tulsa Oklahoma Gun Show. Hugh passed away doing what he loved, on his way to a gun show, spending time with his buddies, telling all kinds of stories.
Hugh is survived by wife Kitti, daughters Leslie and Meagan. Hugh will be missed by the people that were blessed to have met such a stellar, loyal, funny and honest man, a real straight shooter.
He was a dear husband, loving father, uncle and friend, with a strong faith in our home. Hugh served over 40 years as a civil servant. 12 Years at the Yuma Police Department, then the next 28 years with US Customs. He spent his retirement years enjoying the time with his friends, loved ones and nephews hunting trips.
He was a Lifetime member of the NRA and Smith & Wesson Collectors Association.
Memorial services will be Saturday April 29, 2023 at the LDS Church at 2895 S. 8th Ave., Yuma, AZ 85364
From 10AM-Noon, a luncheon to follow.

My condolences to his family during this difficult time. Hugh was more of a friend to my husband but I had the honor of knowing him. Rest in eternal peace and I hope that he and Jim are having a great time and spinning those police stories.

Although I only had the pleasure of knowing Hugh for a few yrs but got to know him has a wonderful neighbor and friend but most of all an incredible human being. He is missed dearly. RIP my friend help keep the piece in paradise

Hugh was a great friend and co worker. Met him soon after he started with YPD. Continued at Customs. He was well schooled in law enforcement, firearms, hunting and flying. Always informative for me to listen to him speak about Customs history. He had an amazing communicative comfort level when speaking to an individual or hundreds of people. I will miss him.

Hugh was an inspiration to many in and out of law enforcement. He always had time to meet and greet everyone. He will be missed by all who new him. Big void going to a gun show and not seeing Hugh. RIP my friend.

You have been such a memorable character, since we met in 1984 or '85 and you began working at the San Luis port and so many other places together until our retirements.Then fatefully to meet again at Murphy's Guns Tucson on your way to Tulsa gun show. We were so shocked to hear of Hugh's passing. He had just left our shop, Murphy's, in Tucson and heard of his tragic accident the next day. May your Faith comfort you during your time of sorrow.
