Alexander Mosby Obituary
August 7, 2025
Alexander "Jack" L. Mosby, 90, of Richmond, died August 7, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn L. Mosby. Surviving are his sister, Jacqueline Tate (Fred); two nieces, Rebecca Scott and Cegies Conner (Alphonso); great-nieces; and nephews; other relatives; and friends. Mr. Mosby was a retired Major in the U.S. Army and retired Administrator for Richmond Public Schools.
Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd, where viewing will be held Monday, August 18, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. followed by an Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Omega service and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Alpha Beta Boule' memorial service beginning at 6 p.m. followed by the family receiving friends until 7 p.m. at Scott's Chapel, 116 E. Brookland Park Blvd. Funeral services will be held 12 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, at Broad Rock Baptist Church, 5106 Walmsley Blvd. Interment Wednesday, August 20, at 1 p.m. at Virginia Veterans Cemetery Amelia. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either Broad Rock Baptist Church or Virginia State University Alumni Association.

I will greatly miss the joviality and brotherly relationship that I shared with my good friend, "Baby Jack" Mosby. We were brothers to the core in many ways. More importantly, in the spirit of commitment to manhood and scholarship, perseverance and uplift. He was an asset to our community in devoting his time and energy to improving the lives of people, particularly, young people. He will be sorely missed.
