Alfred Flynn Maryville

1944 - 2022

MARVILLE, Alfred Flynn, "Al," passed away on October 25, 2022, and was born on March 31, 1944, to the late Conrad and Celestine Burrus Marville. He attended Elementary School in Belhaven, N.C., and was active in the Boy Scouts of America and sports while excelling academically as an Honor Student. In high school, Al continued his success as an Honor Student and President of his graduating class. Following completion of high school, he attended college at Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, N.C., majoring in Biology. After completing his college education, Al enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, serving a tour of duty in Germany and Stateside before being Honorably Discharged on March 1, 1972.

Al was a very private and loving individual who was loved and will be missed by all. Becoming a husband and father was his greatest joy and accomplishment. It was remarkable to see the love between Al and his wife, sons, godchildren, family members and friends.

Alfred's hobbies were working with computers, Do It Yourself Projects (DIY), enjoyed watching most sports, especially basketball and football. However, he did not have a favorite team.

Alfred is survived by his wife of "Fifty Blessed and Wonderful Years," Thelma Hogan-Marville; and sons, Andre (Brandy) and Todd Marville of Midlothian, Va.; goddaughters, Alondra and Monique Holloway of Belhaven, N.C.; godsons, Coty Smith of Richmond, Va., Julien Trent of Chester, Va., D'Shun Edwards of Enfield, N.C., Xavier Holloway of Belhaven, N.C.; and special nephew, David Ormond.
