LAMBERT, Allen Eugene, born January 3, 1939 to Inka and Earl Lambert, slipped these mortal bounds August 31, 2022.
He spent his formative years in the mountains of Princeton, West Virginia, discovering a love for hunting and fishing. He eventually ventured over the Blue Ridge Mountains to his beloved Virginia Tech where he studied chemical engineering and went on to a successful career as a mechanical engineer culminating as the president of Hanover Engineers.
It was his career that led him to Charleston, W.Va. and a fateful interaction with a girl in a borrowed Cadillac, the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Sandra.
The pair lovingly raised three cherished children, Bradley Lambert (Heather), Gregory Lambert and Ashley Eichenlaub (Eric); who went on to give him six adoring grandchildren, Eva Lambert, Hunter Lambert, Jamie Fox, Carson Lambert, Sawyer Eichenlaub and Gray Eichenlaub, who all knew and loved him as "Pa."
Along with his love for hunting and fishing, Allen was an avid golfer. He loved jigsaw puzzles and Hokie football, but mainly because it brought all of his loved ones together around him. He was almost never without a project, whether it was building a birdhouse with a friend or grandchild or constructing a shed for a doting mother-in-law. He was always there for others.
Along with his wife, children and grandchildren; he also leaves two sisters, Virginia Sue Allen (Dale) and Nancy Johnston. Allen was predeceased by his brother, Frank Lee Lambert.
His extended family included his in-laws, Frances Thrift (Don), Joyce Wise (Richard) and Tom Lewis (Julie); as well as five nieces, three nephews, six great-nieces and six great-nephews.
Deepest thanks to Allen's home caregivers, Barbara Lipford, Tonia Archer and Judy Archer as well as the amazing staff at Spring Arbor Cottages of Midlothian.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Purple Heart MOPH 1965, 3100 Domino Road, Richmond, Va. 23235 in honor of all veterans especially Richard Wise, Allen's brother-in-law and devoted golf buddy, or
