HONSHARUK, Andrew, at age 83, passed into paradise October 5, 2022, following a stroke in June 2021. Andy grew up in the arms of a big, loving Italian family. His mother (whose maiden name was Capodicasa) taught him how to cook and he became over the years renowned for his tomato sauce, which no one could manage to copy. Andys favorite dish was baked stuffed clams and he guarded his secret recipe closely, letting only one ingredient known to a family member. He joined the Navy in 1955 and was discharged in 1959 as a Petty Officer. Following his graduation from ECPI in Hartford, Conn., where he was born, Andy spent his career as an IBM programmer with various companies in Connecticut, Florida and Boston. But his true love, in addition to cooking, was singing with his wonderful imitation of Johnny Mathis. Andy also enjoyed sports and was an avid tennis player with employer leagues in Florida and Massachusetts. He was a lifelong Red Sox fan, having attended many games when he lived in Boston. With the birth of his two grandsons, he and his wife moved to Richmond, Va., to be near them.

He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Leslie Murray of Mechanicsville, Va.; his son, Mike Honsharuk of Dawn, Va.; (Karen Petersen). He was predeceased by his son, Andrew Honsharuk Jr.; his stepdaughter, Scarlett Murray of Auburn, Indiana; grandchildren, Nicolas and Jakob Honsharuk of Richmond, Va.; his sister, Fran Charbonneau (Howard) of Rocky Hill, Conn.; his brothers, Charles Bacewicz (Lisa) of Naples, Fla. and John Bacewicz (Lois) of Eastham, Cape Cod, Mass.; his brother-in-law, Timothy Murray (Trish Fabish) of Windham, Conn.; and nephews and nieces, Daniel Charbonneau of Rocky Hill, Conn., David Bacewicz (Haley) of Quincy, Mass., Rebecca Bacewicz of Pensacola, Fla., Meredith Bacewicz of Plymouth, Mass., Alicia Bacewicz of Plymouth, Mass., Teresa Willbanks (Simeon) of San Clemente, Calif.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann's Church, Snead Street, Ashland, Va., on Friday, October 14, at 11 a.m, with a reception to follow at the church. Online condolences can be made at www.blileys.com.

My sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Honsharuk. I had the pleasure, while dating Andy Jr. of hearing many stories and of meeting the family briefly at Andy, Jr's funeral and giving them photos of our Hatteras trip. Mike, Nicolas and Jakob were the joys of Andy, Jr's life and Andy, Sr moved to VA to be closer with his family. Time together, though never long enough, that will always be cherished.
