Archie Kendrick Obituary

Archie James Kendrick Sr, 84, of Hopewell, passed away Tuesday morning, May 2, 2006 in River View on the Appomattox Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard James and Pattie Towler Kendrick; and his wife, Rosa H. Kendrick. He is survived by two daughters, JoAnn K. Nye and her husband, Kenneth, and Pat K. Jenkins; and one son, A.J. Kendrick Jr. and his wife, Ruth, all of Hopewell. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Ann Marie Nye and her husband, Jon Sweetin, K. Wade Nye, Travis H. Kendrick and Adam T. Kendrick. Mr. Kendrick also had many nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of World War II, a retired member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 666, and an active member of the Hopewell Moose Lodge. Everyone is invited to attend the Moose Memorial Service which will start at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2006 in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Visitation will follow the memorial service until 8:30 p.m. Burial will be private. According to the wishes of the deceased, no formal services will be held. He wished to be remembered as he lived, not in death. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Loyal Order of the Moose, Hopewell Chapter #1472, 4701B Western Street, Hopewell, Virginia 23860.
