Barbara Meyer Obituary
Barbara Crawford Vick Meyer
July 8, 1949 - July 6, 2025
MEYER, Barbara Crawford Vick, died July 6, 2025 peacefully at her home in Richmond surrounded by those who loved her. She was born in Richmond on July 8, 1949 to Howard C. Vick and Ellen Z. Vick whom she venerated her entire life. She was married to and is survived by Ned Meyer, her husband of over 50 years with whom she had three children that survive her: Tadd Meyer and his wife Liz, Jeff Meyer and Miranda, and Christopher Meyer and his wife Katie; most importantly she is survived by her seven grandchildren, Drew Meyer, Raleigh Meyer, Amory Meyer, Elliot Meyer, Crawford Meyer, Jack Meyer, and Isla Meyer all of which were the light of her life. Barbara was the second of four children and is survived by her sister Ann Vick-Westgate and her husband Michael, her brother Toby Vick and his wife Sue, and her brother Chris Vick and his wife Jeannine; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Barbara was a proud alumna of Marymount High School and Mary Washington College; she maintained strong friendships with her classmates throughout their lives. Her door was always open and everyone was welcome at her house no matter the hour. She loved her Bridge Club and Book Club even though her family never remembers actually seeing a deck of cards. Barbara was a realtor for many years and especially enjoyed the office camaraderie and problem solving that came with the job. She always had an admirable work life balance as her work was always second to her vacations. She planned year round for her summer trips to Hilton Head and weekends at the River which she greatly enjoyed with her family and dogs.
"Babs" as she was known to her grandchildren, lived life to the fullest. From the FBI investigation of her extracurricular weekend activities in college to her always close but never over the top Christmas Parties (who were all those people); to her empty nest years when she hosted a pipeline of international basketball players for the high school next door, but nothing fulfilled her life more than her grandchildren. Babs would drop anything to spend even just a few minutes with her grandchildren and her dedication to them, the rest of her family and friends defined who she was. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all the caregivers and health care professionals who helped her throughout this last year.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday July 23rd at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. with with a prayer service to begin at 6:30.
The family is welcoming everyone to a celebration of life party at the family home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 24th.
A private burial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation or the Richmond SPCA in her honor.
