Ramona, Jimmy, Bobby, Mary, Mick and families,

I was sorry to hear of Mrs. Turks passing. I had not been in Radford very long when I met Bobby and ultimately the Turk family in 7th grade. I remember many great times at Walker Drive and always enjoyed knowing each of you. Your Mother and The Judge were wonderful hosts and I cherish the memories. Your mother was a beautiful, kind, wonderful lady who made all feel at home and welcome. A special lady who was the head of a special Radford family. God bless each of you now and always.

An old RHS friend,

Tommie

Rest in Peace, Mrs. Turk. I know you and your family had helped ours out tremendously since we moved to Radford in the late 1970s/early 1980s. Although I was too young to understand the impact you and your family had on us, I appreciate hearing from my parents and older siblings about how much you helped us integrate into the community.

Thank you for everything you have done!

We could not have had a better neighbor. Everytime we saw Barbara, she would always say (or yell) "Hi Neighbor", never failing to speak. We have lost a very special lady and will forever miss her. She and Jim raised a beautiful and caring family. We extend our sympathy and condolences to the family. Our loss is truly heavens gain. May God bless her and the family.

David and I had the privilege to live close to the Turks for about21 years. We had great respect for them. Barbara was the same wherever you saw her. Her social status didn't have an influence on how she treated you. Everyone was treated with kindness and respect. Sorry about the loss of this family.

My family is so grateful to Mrs. Turk and Judge and are very sad to hear of her passing. The Turks warmly welcomed us as a Chinese immigrant family into the Radford community and America more than 40 years ago and showed us such generosity and kindness throughout. Mrs. Turk has touched our family in immeasurable ways - thank you so much From all of our hearts. Rest In Peace, old friend.

I would like to share a memory.
I was fortunate enough to play rugby at RU for her son Mick. During the summer I would mow her and the judges lawn and the first time I met her she took me into her home and told me to help myself to anything. She even helped me with a partial scholarship my senior year. I will never forget her and the judge and how kind they were to a kid they didn’t Even know.
Prayers

So many memories, so many years, Barbara was a fixture of my childhood as we kids played together. The closing of this chapter is sad. I am so sorry for your loss. One of my first memories of Barbara, at the house on Wadsworth street, is finding her in the kitchen doing "The Twist" to the new song on the radio and her teaching us how to do "The Twist". I hope the memory brings a smile. She was a lovely, lively, fun loving mom, and will always be that in my memory.

What a lovely obituary befitting of a wonderful woman! Our family has been blessed to know Judge and Barbara Turk for over 60 years, and they made for wonderful neighbors. Thank you to the both of them for their kindness, care of community, and the friendship they extended to my grandparents when they were alive. Barbara Turk was truly part of a great pairing, and she always had a warm smile, an invitation to come in and stay a minute, and also had a genuine concern for others in our community. Prayers for the entire Turk family on the loss of their matriarch, peace be with you during this time.

To Mick and Barbie as well as the rest of the family, I would like to say that it was an honor to have known Mrs Turk. She was one of the kindest and gentlest ladies I have ever known. Always had time to say hello and speak never in too big of a hurry to not tell you hello and stop and talk no matter where she seen you and she was one of those people and never made you feel like you was beneath her. That is what I loved the most about her. She was so special. She will be missed.
