Barbara Unger Obituary

UNGER, Barbara Lively Noble, passed on January 19, 2023. Born to Earl and Blanche Lively Noble on August 22, 1923. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin H. Unger Sr. and is survived by their three children, Nancy U Payne (Jonathan), Martin H. Unger Jr. (Cidna) and Julie U Byerly (Scott). Her legacy will continue through her eight grandchildren, Sheri Payne, Davis Payne, Martin Unger III, Troy Unger, Amanda U. Bressin, Justin Byerly, Wesley Byerly and Luke Byerly; and her 12 great-grandchildren. Nothing made Barbara happier than having her family and friends gathered around her, so a Celebration of Life service will be held on February 4, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Second Baptist Church, River Road and Gaskins Road, Henrico, Va. A reception to greet family and friends will immediately follow in the Church Commons Area until 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to the Community Hospice House in Bobbie's honor.

Bobbie was a delightful woman. Pretty and kind always. I will miss seeing her at Second Baptist Church attending special services while Cigna sang. I first met her at the Tuckahoe YMCA in an exercise class I taught.

Every Friday for many years Bobbi would come to the salon to have her hair done. Always kind, friendly to whomever was there, conversing usually about her family. She would proudly show us pictures of a family she loved and was proud of. Bobbi was the star when she was there. I bragged about her beauty and age to anyone who would be in the room. Her fun nails! I had the honor of having one of the most beautiful humans I'd ever met sit in my chair every week for years. I will miss you so very much. I love you!

Nancy, this is Jenny Crouch from so many yrs ago. I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I didn't know her, but from the wonderful words written about her, I can see what an incredibly beautiful woman she was inside and out. Almost 100 yrs old but a full 100% in greatness of heart and beauty -- I see where you got it. My heart is with you as I know how hard it is to lose our moms. Sending love to you & your family,
Jenny

Julie, how your dad must be rejoicing right now! I am sorry for your loss and know you will miss her deeply. Take comfort in all the great memories. I have such fond memories of coming to the house and your mom always being a calm and steady force. Always a smile on her face. We are all better for having known her. Hugs
