Benjamin Thomas Butcher Sr.

Benjamin Thomas Butcher Sr., 80, of Richmond, died January 19, 2005, widower of Peggy LaLonde Butcher. He is survived by his children, Thomas Butcher Jr., Randye Butcher and his wife, Carolyn, Nancy M. Mancuso and her husband, James, Rebecca A. McFadden and her husband, Bruce and Jennifer Gutierrez and her husband, Roger; one sister and two brothers, 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and devoted friends, Mr. and Mrs. M.R. Wright. Naval career in aviation including service in WWII, Mr. Butcher went to work for the Ford Motor Company, later as a special Lincoln/Mercury representative in the Depot. He was transferred as a field representative in sales promotion of the Lincoln/Mercury Division. Leaving Ford, he joined the Sun Electric Corporation of Chicago, an instrument manufacturer in aeronomics, automotive and missile support equipment. He served as district manager of Virginia and regional manager in Cleveland and New York regions and as vice president of the East Coast division. Mr. Butcher joined the Caloric Division of the Raytheron Corporation, where he served as district manager for Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Later, he was promoted to regional manager distributor sales and, later, as marketing manager of the Southeastern United States and Atlanta, Ga. He formed his own company, the Richmond Gas Equipment and Victorian Fireplace Shop. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Homes' Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday (today).
