Bessie Morris Robinson

ROBINSON, Bessie Morris, age 100, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2023 at her home where she resided the past 68 years, surrounded by her family. Born on October 26, 1922 in New Boston, a small town of Portsmouth, Ohio, the youngest of her four siblings to Philip Morris and Ida Klass. She was preceded in death by her loving parents; and cherished brother, Isaac; and her sisters, Sarah, Martha and Ruth; as well as her daughter, Elinor Addlestone; and granddaughter, Gail Addlestone Spark. Bessie was the widow of Sidney Robinson, whom she married on July 3, 1952 and enjoyed 54 years together. She is survived by her two sons, Ronald and Edwin; two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bessie attended Glenwood High School in New Boston and was voted Best Dressed by her senior class. Bessie was a tireless worker and homemaker and assisted in family care and worked in her brother-in-law's auto parts business until her move to Richmond to marry Sidney, a recent widower with one daughter, and assumed the role of mother to Elinor at age nine.

Bessie enjoyed keeping a meticulous home, enjoyed shopping, being with family and friends and foremost being a devoted and cherished wife, mother, and friend.

She was a lifelong adult member of Beth Ahabah congregation.

A graveside service was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at the Hebrew Cemetery, 4th St. Richmond, Va. 23219.
