Betsy Summers Obituary

Betsy Sheppard Summers

Betsy S. Summers, 95, of Richmond, passed peacefully at home on March 24, 2026 surrounded by her children. She continued to amaze us with her quick wit and sweet demeanor to the end. She accepted all of life's challenges with grace and strength and brought joy to so many. We attribute her longevity to her patience and understanding and to see the good in everyone. She had a strong faith and attended Westover Baptist church until declining health.

Betsy loved her Atlanta Braves, the beach, gardening, jigsaw puzzles and a good country ham biscuit but time with her family, friends and neighbors were what she treasured the most. She was predeceased by her parents, Clinton and Evelyn Sheppard; husband, Harry Summers; brothers," Bink" and "Buster" (Bobby), and her grandson, Ryan Shaw. She is survived by her sister, Jane Truslow (Chester); her children, Tom Summers (Katie), Laura Martin (Bill) and Jennifer Summers (Marcus); granddaughter Sara Passut and great-grandchildren Briana Shaw, Owen and Colton Passut.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the wonderful nurses at VCU Health at Home by Bayada and especially Melissa who was always there for us. In lieu of flowers, Betsy would want you to go out and do something that brings you joy and happiness …"and don't sweat the small stuff!"

Interment will be private. Condolences at Blileys.com
