Beverly Barkman Chapman

CHAPMAN, Beverly Barkman, passed peacefully in Phoenix Arizona on Feb 8, 2024, finishing a marvelous career and a loving 57-year marriage. Born in Richmond Virginia to Evelyn and Erik Barkman she had a happy way about her that endeared herself to all that knew her. She met her husband while a Braniff airline stewardess and he an airborne West Point army captain. They became a team, each pursuing their own successful careers. She excelled as an army wife at West Point and then as business owner in Freehold New Jersey of a Snelling and Snelling personnel placement franchise. She captured multiple nationwide top industry awards and with it came wealth. As a businesswoman she was active in the community affairs and helping others to succeed. She became the first woman President of the Monmouth County Chamber of Commerce for two terms doubling its size and energy. She became the second woman to be invited into the powerful Freehold Rotary Club where she was highly regarded. Upon her departure with her husband to Phoenix the entire Rotary club stood up and sang Dixie to her. In Phoenix she joined the Heard Museum Guild and became very involved in the native American student art program. While there she set up a joint effort with Arizona State University for a highly successful summer course for the winners of the student art competition. All the while she was a devoted daughter to her mother and father, devoted mother to her son and devoted to her Virginian and Swedish family. She has made her mark.

A visitation will be held on Sat. March 2nd at 10 a.m. with Funeral Service at 10:45 a.m. with Graveside to follow at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery 401 N. Hayden Rd. Scottsdale, AZ 85257.
