Brenda Hunt Obituary

Brenda Hunt

December 31, 1942 - April 4, 2025

Brenda Martin Hunt, 82, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, passed away on April 4, 2025 after a courageous fight against breast cancer. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 60 years, N. Douglas Hunt, as well as her daughters Ashley Cardoza (Mike) and Allison Mullens (Mike); and grandchildren Bailey, Sydney, Hunter, and Jack who all adored her.

In addition to her immediate family, Brenda is survived by her brother, Douglas L. Martin (Betty), and many dear friends who were fortunate to have experienced her generosity and spirit. She was preceded in death by her oldest brother, John (Sonny) H. Martin, Jr.

Born in Richmond, VA on December 31, 1942, Brenda was the daughter of the late John and Louise Martin. She was a 1961 graduate of Highland Springs High School and later attended Longwood College (Class of 1965), where she pursued her passion for education and earned her degree to become a teacher. Brenda taught English to eighth to tenth graders for 26 years in Henrico County. Her patience, dedication, and love for teaching left a lasting impact on generations of students.

Outside of the classroom, Brenda was an avid reader and grammar aficionado. She was known for her impeccable style and was an enthusiastic shopper, always curating the perfect look. Brenda was also a cherished friend, known for her warmth, loyalty, and kindness, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m., on Sunday, April 13, at Fairmount Christian Church 6502 Creighton Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., on Monday, April 14, also at Fairmount Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, or Alzheimer's Society. The family would like to thank Dr. Rachna Raman and her team and Serenity First Hospice for their care and support.

Brenda's legacy of love, learning, and kindness will continue to inspire all who were touched by her.

The Hunt family is in my thoughts and my heart. I know how much they loved Brenda. I have fond memories of Doug talking about Brenda's shopping, which is why he worked so many years at Maggie Walker after his Henrico retirement. He enjoyed providing Brenda with extra play money and seeing what she did with it.

Brenda lived a full life and enjoyed the treasures of a devoted husband, two beautiful daughters, her glorious grandchildren, and the rich tapestry of extended family and friends. What more could anyone want or need in this life.
Peace to the Hunt Family,
Barbara Marshall
