Brian Lee Obituary
Brian Michael Lee
Brian Michael Lee, affectionately known as B. Lee, Gran-B & Poppy, was born on January 15, 1943 on the beautiful island of Trinidad. He spent his early years immersed in the vibrant culture and rhythms of the Caribbean before moving to New York City at the age of 19 where he would meet and marry his first wife, Barbara. Together, they had two children, JC and Nanette. A gifted guitarist, Brian played in a Caribbean band for many years and loved sharing stories of his musical adventures, his favorite being the time he had the chance to play backup for Santana. Music was one of the many passions that made him unforgettable. In the 1970s, Brian and his family relocated to the Richmond, Virginia area. Though he and Barbara eventually went their separate ways, they remained dear friends throughout their lives. In 1982, Brian married Nancy Lee, and they shared a loving marriage for nearly 40 years until her passing in 2022. Nancy had two children from a previous marriage, Beth and Rob, whom Brian loved as his own. He built a successful travel agency in Tampa, Florida, a perfect fit for his entrepreneurial spirit and lifelong love of travel. The business flourished, allowing Brian and Nancy to explore the world together, often returning to his beloved Caribbean. Brian's sharp mind and insatiable curiosity remained with him always. He had a deep love for learning, trivia, and engaging conversation. Whether sharing stories, cracking jokes, or offering a new perspective, Brian left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ena Lee; his sister, June Alvarez; his brother-in-law, Martin Arneaud; his first wife, Barbara Boothe; his late wife, Nancy Lee; and his granddaughter, Kiersten Nichols. He is survived by his siblings, Peter Lee (Patsy), Nannette Arneaud, and Gabrielle Lee (Karen); his children, JC (Sheri), Nanette (Keith), Beth (Chris), and Rob (Janet); granddaughters, Brooke, Jenna (Grant), Lacy, Olivia, and Tess. He is also remembered fondly by a host of extended family and friends who will cherish his memory forever.
A private family gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Epilepsy Foundation in Brian's name.
