Briant E. Cummens

CUMMENS, Briant E., of Glen Allen, Va., passed peacefully on April 6, 2023 at the age of 81. He was born in Lancaster, Pa. and at the age of five, moved to Utah. Briant was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Cummens and Ruth Johns Cummens; brother, Robert Cummens; son, Sean Cummens. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Carol M. Cummens; stepson, Michael Durrette (Lelina); stepdaughter, Melissa Burnett (Eddie); sons, Troy Cummens (Nancy), Briant Cummens Jr. (Jacoba) and Aaron Brett Cummens; daughter-in-law, Colleen McArthur; grandchildren, Cristobella and Michela Durrette, Taylor, Kaisha, Wyatt, Sophia, Simone, David, Nate, Matt, Kathy, Kelsey, Lindsey and Spencer Cummens. Briant graduated from Brigham Young University with a master's in accounting. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, where he was an Elder. In his youth, he went on a mission in France for two years. Briant was a Worshipful Master for Masonic Lodge No. 131 (2006) and Lodge No. 36 (2016). He was also a member of the Shriner's ACCA Mini Patrol and was a volunteer driver for patients and their families to the Shriners Children's Hospital. Along with his wife, he was a world traveler, sailor, skier, bridge player and animal lover. A celebration of his life will take place 3 p.m., Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Bliley's, 8510 Staples Mill Road.
