Burwell Lewis Lafoon

Burwell Lewis Lafoon, Jr. of Glen Allen passed away on March 25, 2026.
"B.L." was born on October 8, 1936 in Lunenburg County, Virginia to Burwell Lewis Lafoon and Dorothy Leath Lafoon. He married the love of his life, Peggy Jessee Lafoon on July 3, 1958. B.L. enjoyed a long and successful career of 40 years at Reynolds Metal Company which spanned from entry level draftsman to Director of Quality Assurance and Technology for the Construction Products Division. He also served as a Staff Sergeant of the Army National Guard. HHB 107th Arty Brigade. He was a rare man of integrity who was known for his ability to inspire and make those around him feel valued and cherished. He was a devoted husband and loving father to his family.
Burwell was a longtime member of North Run Baptist Church serving God and his church family in many ways including leading the Royal Ambassadors boys' group and serving as church Treasurer for 25 years. He was very active in his community serving as President of the Hermitage High School Marching Panthers Band Boosters, Chairman of the Henrico County School Board, and as a member of the Richmond Kiwanis Club. B.L. had a keen interest in WWII history, NASCAR racing, and football. But his true passion was his family. He made time for and thoroughly enjoyed every sport and event which involved his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Peggy. Children Julie Sitter (Andrew), Penny Harding. Grandchildren Jessica (Tony), Dustin (Tiffany), Taylor (Tori), Clarissa (Matt), Carley (Aaron), and Haden. Great grandchildren: Raegan, Mia, and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his sister Annette and brother Bill. B.L. will be missed greatly by his loved ones, church family and neighborhood community.
The family will receive friends and guests for a visitation on April 1 at 11 a.m. at North Run Baptist Church, 2100 Lydell Drive, with a service following at 12 p.m. An interment service at Westhampton Memorial Park will take place at 2 p.m. and reception at North Run will follow.
