Caitlin Piechowiak Obituary

Caitlin Leigh Piechowiak, age 13, died on Tuesday July 29, 2003 while serving her community through the YMCA and Meals-On-Wheels. She is survived by her parents, Craig and Faith; her brother Tyler; maternal grandmother, Ann Hartle of Lewisville, N.C.; paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Edward O. Piechowiak of Bucks County, Pa.; her aunts, uncles and cousins, Robin, Ron, Elizabeth and Caroline Nixon of Valrico, Fla., Jack and Anja Hartle of Hamptonville, N.C., Wayne, Janice, Jason, Matthew and Amy Piechowiak of Tampa Fla., and Brian and Joanne Piechowiak of Philadelphia, Pa. Caitlin was a rising freshman at Matoaca High School who loved art, music, butterflies and computers. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd. where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday and where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Children’s Miracle Network, 2924 Brook Road, Richmond, Va. 23220. I just returned from out of town and was saddened to learn about your loss. I taught Caitlyn when she was in the fourth grade and remember what a determined and funny girl she was. I still have a blue and white ceramic cat she gave me for Christmas. I am sure she long forgot about it, but I smile when I see it in my study. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with your family. I consider myself lucky to have known Catilyn while she was on Earth.

My deepest condolances go out to the Piechowiak family. Although I only met Caitlin last summer through cross country practice for Manchester High, I will never forget her. She had a huge heart and always had a smile on her face. Though she was younger than all of the other girls out there running she would always push even the oldest ones to go farther and faster. She will be missed. I am truly sorry for what happened but I am so very thankful that I had the oppertunity to have met such a wonderful person.

My daughter attends Bailey Bridge Middle School. Even though we do not know you, the death of your daughter, Caitlin, has touched my family deeply. From what has been reported on tv, she was a beautiful and giving child and each time Channel 12 has her on the news, tears run down our faces. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I would like to say that I'm very sorry for the loss of your daughter, she was so very young. I do wish that she could have continued on the journey that she was headed on. Young Caitlin knew what she wanted in life and that's something that most children her age don't know really know that soon in life. I didn't know Caitlin to well but i do remember her. Caitlin was a wonderful gurl who was so easy to get along with. I have known her for atleast five years. In eigth grade was when we were the closest. Everyday in second period we would have our own little talks about everything. I'll never forget the advise she gave me and the confusing look she always had when i was goofing off.
