A funeral service with interment to follow will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2024, in Westover Episcopal Church, Charles City. Mrs. Blount may be viewed from 2 to 4 p.m Saturday in the funeral home. The full obituary can be read at whitingsfuneralhome.com

Oh, my sweet Carolyne,
I had NO idea that she had transitioned. I will forever be grateful for her intuitive ability to see the writer in me that I never knew existed. After sending her an invitation to a fashion show that I was organizing, she gracefully declined and then asked me to write an article for about... Time Magazine. That serendipitous experience birthed a three-decade writing career with her. I loved how she nicknamed me "Baby Terry" (as in writer Terry McMillan) once she saw my ability to create articles.
For her willingness to give a young creative with no journalism degree the platform to soar, my next book will be dedicated to her.
Rest in power; I know you are in heaven editing away.
