Charles Brandmahl Obituary

BRANDMAHL, Charles Douglas "Doug", 63, of Goochland, Va., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on June 19, 2022. He was born July 30,1958. He was preceded in death by parents, Charles R. and Audrey W. Brandmahl; his loving wife of 37 years, Sherry Brandmahl; and nephew, William Joseph Jeffords III (Trey). Doug was a loving and supportive father to daughters, Kasey Brandmahl Hicks (Daniel) and Alex Brandmahl Strabley (Skyler), both of Goochland, VA. He was the proudest Papa to Chase, Colton and Cannon Hicks and Audrey and Beau Strabley. He was a loyal younger brother to Kristie Brandmahl Gee of Glen Allen, Va.; an amazing uncle to Lindsay Orioles (Peter); and great-uncle to Taylor and Charlotte Skorupa. He is also survived by Bill and Beth Ann Jeffords, Billy and Lisa Jeffords, Cindy and Gary Gumm; along with several nieces and nephews. He loved Jesus, and was a spiritual leader to his family. Doug was a graduate of Tucker High School in 1977, the star quarterback who married the cutest cheerleader, Sherry. The two raised their girls in Goochland, Va., where Doug was a successful independent general contractor. He loved to travel, to play golf, ride his motorcycle and spend time watching his grandchildren play baseball. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22 at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad Street, where a funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 23. Interment will follow in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doug's name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I have lost one of the best friends a man could have. I was fortunate enough to be with Doug alot in the last 4 years. We even went on a cruise together before he was diagnosed. I have so many memories it just doesn't seem possible I can't just pick up the phone and call him. RIP my good friend.

Very sorry to hear of Doug's passing. My condolences to Kristie and his family! I will miss his smile and infectious laugh! A good man of God, and certainly with Jesus now. I hope all that loved him will take comfort in knowing that the Savior will be coming back soon, so the separation will be of short duration. The world will be a lot less fun without him. Sending prayers up for the family in this sad time, but Doug is experiencing joy in the presence of his Savior right now. The joy of the Lord is our strength...and comfort.

Doug was one of the very finest young men that it was my pleasure to coach. He was a winner in every aspect (& not just in football). May God rest his soul, & bless his family and friends.
