Thompson, Charles Randolph, 87, beloved Husband, "Daddy", Friend, of New Kent County, VA, passed away Friday, April 25th, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen, and his siblings, John, Robert, Jr., Chris, Julian, and Frances Thompson. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Valentino (Ray); grandson, Nick Valentino (Dani); granddaughter, Marissa Valentino (Keith); great-grandson, Bryson "Buddy" Lewis, Jr., great-granddaughters, Shelby "Cookie" Dunkum and Lainey Joy "Peanut" Valentino; a sister-in-law, Nancy Thompson; a very special nephew, Donnie Thompson (Michele), along with many nieces and nephews; and a second "son-in-law", Vince Valentino. Charles always enjoyed the outdoors. In his younger years, he loved horseback riding, camping, saltwater fishing, and hunting. When he wasn't working as a sheet metal mechanic, he went into business for himself, working beside his brother and friend, as contractors, "The Tennis Shoe Crew". His love for camping led he and his wife, Mary Ellen, to managing/operating Bush Park Campground for 6 years, which brought them Great joy. In his later years, his enjoyment came with the birth of his grandchildren, enjoying being able to watch them grow up and participate in their hobbies with them. When Charles wasn't with his family, he could be found in his barn "tinkering/fiddle-farting", working on or riding lawn mowers, or helping others. He was the hardest working, most giving, family man, who said "the only person that wasn't a friend, is one I hadn't met yet." The family would like to invite all to come to the house on Sunday, May 18th, 2025, from 2pm-5pm to celebrate and remember a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the New Kent County Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
