Charles Watkins Obituary

Charles Smith "Joe" Watkins, III

Our beloved farmer, Charles Smith "Joe" Watkins, III, 78, of Manquin, VA, went to the Lord on March 26, 2026, peacefully surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles S. Watkins, II, and Marie Chenault. Joe was a dedicated parent and loving spouse that filled our lives with warmth and kindness. He joined his beloved wife in Heaven, Shirley A. Watkins, and is survived by four children, Troy Watkins (Terri), Terri Watson (Bert), Chip Watkins (Stephanie), and Robbie Watkins (Sylvia); nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Madeleine Selby and Martha Coullier. The family wishes to thank Ella Croxton of King William for her unwavering love, support, and friendship for over 40 years. Joe was a well-known, dedicated dairy and grain farmer for over 65 years.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Sharon Baptist Church, 901 Sharon Rd, King William, VA 23086. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes (Formerly JDRF), 1801 Libbie Ave., Suite 106, Richmond, Va. 23226.
