Dear Son, I received a text from LaTonya saying `isn´t this the anniversary of CJ´s passing? Wishing uplifting memories and giving thanks for what he came to teach.´ I assured her that she was correct on her date and she hadn´t missed it. In 2022, she was the only one who could take Deja around the family for your final business-she met Aunt Lois and others. LaTonya remains to be there for Deja and Ali, and I know you would appreciate that like I do. As for the one of the many lessons you taught-according to your widow, one was let´s go to Dorey Park-we went there on the day of the Eclipse 2024. Deja mentioned you saying `it was the best park´ and she could feel like you were there with us. She drew chalk pictures while Ali played with his glasses. He´s growing up CJ, Lord knows we need you now! The Beatitudes sum up Jesus´ sermon on the Mount teaching about what it means to live as a child of God´s kingdom. One says, blessed are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted. I pray for all the families you taught, as God keeps sending The Comforter in His own way in your absence! Much Love, Mama Lorna

Dear CJ, if I could talk to you it would sound like this: Son, You know I still haven´t erased the text thread from you or Skeeter? I looked at some of the pictures I had sent to you; (smile)there was the AC pics dated back to Dec 2021. Last year, this day, we were getting ready to observe Resurrection weekend and by the time it ended, we had sorrow in our hearts and confusion on our minds yet we still praised God for our Savior, as you would have done. And Today, we woke with the remembrance of what the end of Apr 15, 2022 was and we gave honor to God for your precious presence because We.Miss.You. CJ your entire family misses you and the place you hold in our hearts still remains. We can only rely on Holy Spirit to comfort us when we shed tears as He rubs our backs with a gentle nudge allowing us to feel like it´s your hug! There is only one Chauncey E. Walker, Jr..Your life gave meaning to your Deja and Ali, they´ve gone through so many changes, they still desire your heavenly presence and they´re learning the final lesson you showed them, how a precious life can leave precious memories and guide them along the same path to glory. Thanks be unto God for allowing us to have time with you to demonstrate the plan of eternal life and remembrance! It´s not how we start, it´s how we finish, Gone and Not Forgotten!
Love, Mama Lorna

To Mrs. CJ Walker, Ali, Ms. Brown, Mr. Walker Sr., and the rest of the family, I am very sorry for your loss. CJ and I were classmates and school friends from 5th grade in Ms. Hubbard's class to our senior year in high school, at VHS. CJ was always kind and respectful, full of humor and love.
One of my favorite memories of CJ is when he arrived at our 5th-grade graduation wearing a full-on purple suit with the shoes to match. My dad leaned over and asked who this kid was, and I said, "Oh, that's CJ, my friend" my dad laughed and said, "That boy is sharp! He doesn't need a pen or pencil!".
When I told CJ this story years later during one of our classes in high school, he threw his head back in laughter. He remembered well what he wore that day and how he was "smellin" himself with such confidence!
My last time seeing CJ was right before graduation. We were reflecting back on our childhoods and the journey that we had taken together from elementary to high school, and how so much has changed. As we reflected, it felt like we were back in time, two goofy kids laughing and joking as if no time had passed. We gave one another a hug saying how grateful we were to have known one another and wished each other well.
It feels unreal that he is gone. Please know that his classmates, who he had known since elementary school, are grieving over his loss with you. We all loved CJ; he was a big part of our school family, and we will miss him dearly.

I raised CJ as my son from the age of 4 years old. Even though he was all grown up and married he was still my baby. I love you CJ and I will truly miss you. Although you are gone from this earth, you will live in my heart forever.
