Christina Renee Krout

1988 - 2022

KROUT, Christina Renee, 33, of Hanover County, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, October 16th, 2022. She was a graduate of Hanover High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and a Master of Arts in Teaching from James Madison University. Christina was known for being a loyal friend, supportive colleague and a loving sister, daughter and wife. Her persistence empowered her to continuously work hard and strive for new accomplishments personally, yet she always made sure to find time for others, being better known as the "mom" of the group. She will always be remembered for her ability to positively impact all individuals who crossed her path in life through her comforting, funny, outgoing, and zest for life personality. While Christina was close to many, she led the way of life as a role model and best friend for her sister, Casey. Christina was a wonderful big sissy who embraced Casey with strength, dedication to her family and unwavering support and defense. Christina was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Krout; grandparents, Bernard and Lucille "Mitzie" Pitts, Martha "Pat" and Gene Smart, Harry "Butch" and Lois Zahn. Left to cherish her memory are her two devoted parents, Sheryl and Barry Smart; siblings, Casey Conigliaro (Michael), Christopher Smart (Morgan) and Michael Smart; mother and father-in-law, Lisa and Ernest Krout Jr.; sister-in-law, Briana Krout; godchildren, Jacob, John and Jolee Jenkins; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She is already deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 22 and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, with a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. Both visitations and funeral service will be held at Woody Funeral Home – Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. 23116.
