Clara Padgett Obituary

Clara D. Padgett, 73, of Powhatan, widow of Loyd E. Padgett, died April 7, 2006. She is survived by three sons, E. Pete Padgett, J. Donavon Padgett, L. Elden Padgett and his wife, Carol, all of Powhatan; one daughter, Arenda J. Stroupe and her husband, David of Cumberland; five brothers, Russ, Jerry, Tom, Jut and John Dearth; four sisters, Kate, Esther, Dorothy and Janet, all of Ohio; six grandchildren, Sarah and Josh Hughes, Kasie and Alanna Stroupe, Marissa and Cheyanne Padgett; four great-grandchildren, Victoria, Hunter, Logan and Aidan. Mrs. Padgett was a Cub Scout leader and volunteer for over 35 years. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bennett & Barden Funeral Home, 3215 Anderson Hwy. (Rt. 60), Powhatan. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. in the Red Lane Baptist Church, Powhatan. Interment church cemetery.

To my birthday friend who I shared a lot of good times and gave me wonderful advice! Your guidance, love and devotion for the Cub Scouts gave a wonderful solid foundation for my son and those who were fortunate enough to have you as a leader. I will miss you and always remember our shared birthdays.
