Damien Sarsfield Obituary
July 8, 1945 - October 7, 2024
Damien Paul Sarsfield, 79, of Richmond, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Patrick and Mary Frances (Welch) Sarsfield; one sister, Margaret Steel; three brothers, Bernard, Edward, and William Sarsfield. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Gwendolyn Gist Sarsfield; a son, William Patrick Sarsfield (Lisa); a daughter, Joanna McAlexander (Ian); a brother, James Edward Sarsfield (Kathleen); two grandchildren, Teagan Sarsfield and Zachary Haack; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Damien graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he received his bachelor's degree in chemistry. He worked as a Quality Assurance Director at Wella Manufacturing of Virginia for over 25 years before he retired.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father. Patient and kind, he was always willing to listen. He never gave advice but somehow you always left with answers. Damien was completely dedicated to his family, any beach made him smile, and his greatest joy was becoming a grandfather to Teagan (with whom he loved outings to the Children's and Science museums and sharing jokes only they knew).
He radiated kindness and set a high bar for everyone around him. His beautiful spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of basking in his goodness.
Services to be held at Bliley's, Staples Mill on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 1 p.m.
