Daniel Ludeman Obituary

Daniel James Ludeman, Sr.

November 18, 1956 - March 9, 2025

Daniel James Ludeman, Sr. passed away peacefully on March 9th at his home on Carter's Creek in Weems, Virginia, surrounded by family. Born on November 18, 1956, Danny was the son of the late Joanne and Doug Ludeman. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan, and their four children: Danny Jr. (Erika), Allie (Adam), David (Francesca), and Caroline (Zach). He was a proud grandfather to John, Frances, Thora, Whit and one more on the way. He is also survived by his brother, Doug (Courtney), and his many cherished nieces and nephews.

Danny lived life at full speed. A tireless worker and natural leader, he poured his boundless energy into everything he did. He thrived on solving big problems, found deep purpose in his work, and took great pride in a job well done. His distinguished career in the brokerage industry was marked by vision and leadership, and later, he dedicated himself to a cause close to his heartfounding Concordance, a nonprofit committed to helping men and women transition from prison back into society.

Danny loved being part of the communities he called home, both in Richmond and St. Louis. A charismatic speaker and gifted storyteller, he relished opportunity to bring people togetherwhether hosting large gatherings or enjoying time with friends hunting, fishing, and playing cards. On vacations, he became a big kid himself, always the first to round up the children (and often an uncle or two) for impromptu adventures like riding Sea-Doos, playing putt-putt, or catching a movie. To many, Danny was larger than life. His energy was magnetic, and being in his orbit meant feeling the full force of his enthusiasm, generosity, and love for life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Kate Farley for her dedication and unwavering support and Marva Smith for her compassionate care. We also express gratitude to Dr. Steven Bialick and his team at The University of Miami Health System. A private service will be held in Danny's honor.

Danny was a truly great leader and visionary. I was looking at pictures of us taken during our Recognition trips with the firm and just marveled at his smile and friendship. I am so very sorry for your loss.

This is sad news and I'm sorry I learned it two weeks after he passed away. As a member of the Wells Fargo Advisors Home Office family I have to say that with all the demands on his time, if any of us could catch a minute to talk with him he was always kind and listened like we were the only people in the room and like he had all the time in the world to chat. Leadership in all companies would do well to follow his example in how he related to his employees. It's impressive given today's leadership and I will always be grateful for the couple of opportunities I had to talk with him. My heart goes out to his family.

Susan and family,
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Danny was a fantastic boss and I am so happy that we were able to reconnect with him in the past few years. He was such a good person and he inspired me greatly with his leadership and relationships at Wachovia Securities and with his work with Concordance. I am grateful to have known him.

Susan and family, so sorry to read of Danny´s passing. We were all at FBC many moons ago ago, but more recently I have to recount how deeply touched and humbled Dr. Flamming and Shirley were at your generosity in the Flamming Faith initiative at U of R. Thinking they´ve had a great reunion beyond anything we can imagine!

Susan - Like Paul Basden, I knew Danny in our youth. We were neighborhood kids who swam on the Southampton swim team like many of the kids in the neighborhood did. We reconnected when both he and I were at Saint Christopher´s. We went our separate ways in college (UVA and VA Tech), so we kind of lost touch, but I was so happy to read about his success in the both his career and charitable endeavors. I am so sorry to hear about his passing and will certainly be praying for you and your family. -John Carter

Susan, my name is Paul Basden and Danny and I went to public schools in Chesterfield County and to Saint Christophers together, from 5th-12th grade. Ten months ago, we exchanged several emails and texts about meeting at Saint Christopher´s 50th reunion. Up until the day before, he said he was flying down from St. Louis and we were going to have lunch together. At the last minute, he was unable to come.

It breaks my heart to hear that he has died. I know he was a strong follower of Jesus Christ, as I am, and I will look forward to future conversations with him in the coming Kingdom. In the meantime, please accept my love and prayers for you and your family.

I met Danny in the very early 1980's when we were at Wheat. He inspired his team mates and changed our industry for the better. He kept us together during difficult times. Will miss, but not forget him. wishing the family the kind of grief that heals well and remembers well. sincerely, Chris Davis
