David Linwood Holcomb, Sr.

September 26, 1950 - May 3, 2025

David Linwood Holcomb Sr. of Fate, Texas passed away on May 3, 2025, at the age of 74.

David was born in Wichita, Kansas on September 26, 1950, to Wayne L. Holcomb Sr. and Jean Williams Holcomb. He grew up in Richmond, Virginia and graduated from Hermitage High School.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Adams, younger brothers Richard Holcomb and partner A.C. Gregg of Henrico, Virginia, and John Holcomb of Henrico, Virginia, and his children Renee Morris, David L. Holcomb II of Crandall, Texas, Jason Michael Holcomb and wife Debra Holcomb of Garland, Texas, Ann Watson and husband Tim Watson of Rowlett, Texas, Alexander Ashmore and Elizabeth Ashmore both of Dallas, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Jean Holcomb, second wife Diane Holcomb, and older brother Wayne Holcomb Jr.

David was known for his kind heart, infectious laugh and unwavering support for his family.

David proudly served in United Sates Army Reserve from 1971 to 1975 in the 435th Chemical Detachment Unit at Fort Lee (now Fort Gregg-Adams), Virginia. He was a proud member of the Texas American Legion.

Starting his professional career in Richmond, David retired from McCarthy Building Company after 25 years of distinguished employment as a Project Superintendent, building bridges and highways in states across the United States.

He was an avid golfer and greatly enjoyed the sport. David had a love for and was a big fan of March Madness.

David was a loving husband, father and proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He took great delight in spending time with them and sharing in their activities and accomplishments.

He was loved and respected, and will be dearly missed by many dear friends, all family members and his good friend Alena Nelson.

David will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family of David L Holcomb Sr. are in deep appreciation of the love, prayers and heartfelt condolences from everyone that knew him.
